Tales from the Sanctum

Card Catalog

Welcome

The Sanctum Secorum podcast plumbs the depths of Appendix N as it applies to DCC RPG. Each show reviews one piece of Appendix N media — be it literature or film — and then discusses how to bring aspects of it to the table for your DCC game. We explore how the selected piece might already easily fit into particular modules and DCC settings, and we highlight one specific DCC module that really ties into the Appendix N material.

Enter the Sanctum Secorum… and be inspired.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Sanctum Media is pleased to announce that we are working in partnership with Axe Cop co-creator Ethan Nicolle in an effort to bring his latest project to life. Bearmaggedon tells the story of a group of slackers and a mountain man caught up in an ursine war on humans. Bearmageddon News Network covers the world’s news of this war, including bear attack tips.

Through their partnership with Ethan Nicolle, Sanctum Media will be bringing a number of the nightmarish creations of the Bearmageddon to life and materials found in Dickinson Killdeer’s Guide to  Bears of the Apocolypse: Ursine Abominations of the End Times and How to Deafeat Them will also be featured. Sanctum Media, and the Keepers of Mysteries, are proud to be bringing the denizens of this unique setting to life in a fashion that can be used by DCC Judges who are looking for something wholly outside of the mainstream.

Ethan Nicolle (http://www.ethannicolle.com) is an Eisner Award nominated comic book creator, writer, and artist. He has also worked with his younger brother, Malachai, to create Axe Cop – a web comic turned comic, turned animated series.

Sanctum Media (http://sanctum.media) produces the monthly Sanctum Secorum podcast (featuring Jen Brinkman, Marc Bruner, and Bob Brinkman), devoted to Appendix N literature and its inspiration and use in within the Dungeon Crawl Classics Role Playing Game. Sanctum Media also publishes the Sanctum Secorum Companion, a free e-zine filled with playable content for DCC RPG.

Contest Deadline Extended until January 21st!!

Well, it finally happened, we were hit with some amazing prize support for our recent Tarzan content contest and there is just too much to give away without extending our deadline. What do we have available?

We have 3 copies of Treasure Vaults of Zadabad (out of stock on the Stormlord site).
We have a piece of original Tarzan art from Todd McGowan.
We also have a small trove of fantasy novels to hand out as well.

As a reminder, to enter you need to send us a piece of original content inspired by Tarzan of the Apes. Art, fiction, statted monsters or NPCs, spells, etc. Send that to us at TheHub@sanctum.media it is just that easy.

The “legalese” is pretty simple. By submitting an entry you grant Sanctum Media non-exclusive rights to print your submission (in other words, we can publish it, but so too can anyone else you choose) while retaining all of your own copyrights. One or more entries will be selected at random to receive a prize. We are going to draw winners until we run out of prizes!

So get those entries in by January 21st.

News: New Year’s Contest!

The Sanctum Secorum will be celebrating the new year with a discussion of Tarzan of the Apes by Edgar Rice Burroughs, and pairing that with the Treasure Vaults of Zadabad. So, in order to kick off 2017 with the bang it deserves we are holding our first ever contest!

The Keepers of Mysteries will be giving away a copy of the featured adventure (a great bit of work by our friends over at Stormlord Publishing). To enter, all you need to do is submit a piece of Tarzan/Jungle related content for the Sanctum Secorum companion zine. We will choose on submission at random to win our prize (and there may be other Appendix N-ish goodies in the pot if we get enough entries – so submit often). Entries are due by 12:01am EST on December 28th and the winner will be announced on our next episode (airing Jan 6, 2017).

Upcoming Road Crew: Dungeon Games, Estero, FL

Dungeon2 years ago South West Florida lost an icon of the gaming community. Big Katts ( Comic Warehouse) was more than a shop, it was a landmark. A place for gamers to meet, play, and grow.

Many of us played our first games with Bob, Chris, and French watch over our shoulders and many of us found a second home in that little storage unit. for decades, they helped to raise generations of gamers and comic lovers. Without them, Dungeon Games wouldn’t exist.

So, on September 3rd, Dungeon Games, 2 Drop Game Shop, and Sparks Gaming lounge will be holding fund raisers to raise money for the Kobzina family. Each of us will be doing something different so you can find an event that is to your tastes.

Here’s what we have going on:
