Tales from the Sanctum

Card Catalog

Welcome

The Sanctum Secorum podcast plumbs the depths of Appendix N as it applies to DCC RPG. Each show reviews one piece of Appendix N media — be it literature or film — and then discusses how to bring aspects of it to the table for your DCC game. We explore how the selected piece might already easily fit into particular modules and DCC settings, and we highlight one specific DCC module that really ties into the Appendix N material.

Enter the Sanctum Secorum… and be inspired.

News: Judges Wanted for Big Bad Con (Oct 13-15 – Walnut Creek, CA)

If you are in the area, this sounds fantastic! A room dedicated to DCC RPG needs judges to help fill its tables. Will you rise and pick up the gauntlet?

From +Terry Olson

Hey SF Bay Area reavers, cutpurses, heathen-slayers, and tight-lipped warlocks, we need some DCC judges for Big Bad Con. Please consider attending and running some games! Otherwise I’ll explode in a gory (not Gorey) mess trying to imitate the inimitable +Brendan LaSalle as I judge more games than I’m able…

Consider this a plea to help me run Dungeon Crawl Classics (DCC) RPG at this year’s Big Bad Con. Last year, we had 11 DCC events, this year (so far) we have 3. Last year, my games were packed (9-10 players at the table), so the demand is there. We have our own room, “The DCC Room of Doom,” in which to sling dice. For those of you unfamiliar with Big Bad Con, it’s my favorite RPG con. Easy to book games, cool folks, great venue, and it supports Doctors without Borders. At the very least, attend! And if you do attend, please consider running some DCC. =)

Upcoming Event – Crit Hit 2017 – July 15-16, 2017

Phoenix, AZ is hosting Crit Hit 2017, a small convention with a number of great sounding DCC/MCC events (with all but the single MCC event being hosted in the “Spellburn” room). The convention has a “pay what you want” system for event registration but badges do have fixed prices. Among the events being run are…

Judge Anthony: Sailors on the Starless Sea (x2)
Colin Brodd: DCC Vikings Playtest, Intrigue at the Court of Chaos, the Chained Coffin
Stuart Dollar: Willy’s World (MCC)

In honor of Free RPG Day 2017, Sanctum Secorum released our first ever physical companion. A very limited release, available in just a handful of locations, this release served as our first test-run for our upcoming “Friends of the Library” program, and introduced our first Guardians of Secrets.

News: Appendix N Book Club Podcast goes live

We have often mentioned the upcoming selections of the Appendix N Book Club run in Brooklyn by Spellburn‘s Judge Jeff Goad. Lamentably, a good number of folks who would love to attend those discussions (including our Keeper’s of Mysteries) are not local to the group. This leaves a number of folks hungry for more Appendix N discussions.

Ask and ye shall receive.  Judge Jeff Goad and his co-host Ngo Vinh-Hoi have launched a new podcast, The Appendix N Book Club. We are pleased to welcome this new addition to the Appendix N Podcasting community (seriously, there are very few) and we hope that they have a nice long run.  Be sure to check them out!

News: DCC Scratch-Off Character Sheets Kickstarter Goes Live

Following up on the success of the scratch-off character sheets in last year’s holiday adventure, Twilight of the Solstice, Goodman Games has rolled out a new kickstarter. This effort, to print packets of scratch-off character sheets. The pre-generated characters draw upon a database of 50,000 0-level characters (provided by Jon Marr of Purple Sorcerer and Crawler’s Companion fame).
