Phlogiston Disturbance #2: Welcome to Dungeon Crawl Classics
The Lords of Sarcasm present an introductory DCC funnel adventure with an emphasis on exposing new players to the wonders of Dungeon Crawl Classics. Forget min-maxed character builds and rules exploits! The focus here is on fun and building a memorable character through adventurers deeds instead of number crunching.
If you’ve been curious to try DCC, this is your event.
This is an OPEN funnel event; all are welcome to join in the fun. No DCC experience is necessary and rules will be taught at the table. Dice are also available. QuickStart rules for DCC will be provided to new players (when available).
You may be asking yourself “What is a funnel?” Well, think of it this way: other games may encourage you to write up a character backstory or a reason for your party to adventure together; a funnel-adventure lets you play it out!
You take on the role of multiple common folk (0-level characters) banding together for a common goal. Each player controls 3-4 of these brave but foolhardy folk but don’t expect them to last. A little liquid courage may not be a match for the dangers and horrors that lay beyond the safety of the warm hearths and locked shutters of their homes.
Every time, the table Doom Gong rings, a 0-level PC had earned its wings (in death).
However, once the carnage ends, the survivors find themselves changed; reforged even with a taste for “adventure” and a loathing to return to their once mundane lives. Welcome to 1st level, brave warrior (or cleric or thief or wizard).
Now, on to the adventure description…
The nature of the phlogiston disturbance is currently unknown… the fabric of reality has been ripped open and the extent of the cosmic damage is yet to be determined.
This is a Level-0 funnel adventure.
Pregens will be provided.
